Mid May.....hem!

Hi again! Just can't seem to find time at the weekend to do my blog as I am always too busy, so have decided to sit and write it in the evening while Russell plays his new game on XBox.

Had a "Grand Day out" in Derby on Saturday with our friends and their 10 month old baby, Phoebe. She was so well behaved and we all had a nice time at the shops.I love visiting the Westfield Centre, where you can park and walk straight to the shops without going outside. They have really good, unusual shops too and a brilliant cinema. It's really spacious and bright, with an excellent food court
.

Sunday was a nice day too so as usual we went to Hanley Car boot sale. I bought quite a few things, including a small bedside table, an old retro mirror that has been painted with horrible silver paint, 2 x plate racks, a chair for 50p! and a nice little pottery planter hand painted with daisies.

I didnt seem to have much time when I got back home on Sunday but I still managed to get quite a lot done. I finished painting the plaster mirror, but there are a few small cracks appearing round the frame and I don't think I can risk listing it on eBay in case it is damaged, so might just keep for myself :-)

Most of my eBay listings ended on Sunday. I sold the large dresser for £125, and the buyer came with a van to collect it this evening. She was very happy with it and left the following feedback for me on eBay - "Great solid piece of furniture. Lovingly restored. Great ebayer" :-)

I also sold a bedside table for £15, table for £12, bathroom cabinet (I paid 99p for) for £8, and I have to tell you about a little trinket box I bought at last week's car boot sale. I bought it for £1, thought it looked a bit shabby chic. I listed it on eBay starting at £4.50 and immediately started getting a lot of interest in it, with emails from new Zealand and Canada from buyers asking if I would post it out to them. The listing ended last night and the final price was just over £36!

I am now looking everywhere for more of this "Belle Fiore" pottery at the sales as the factory (which has recently been demolished) is not far from here.

I am half way through painting 2 x bedside cabinets in Old White, and have almost finished 2 pretty pine shelves with heart cutouts that I have distressed. Also painted up a couple of pictire frames, but might keep one for myself as I really like them.

Hope you have a good week. That's all for now folks!

Tuesday 15 May 2012

I would drive 5,000 miles!

Just a quick post as it is now Tuesday evening, I was just so busy last weekend as we drove up to Scotland on Friday evening, then drove back on Saturday evening. Still got up nice and early on Sunday and headed out to Hanley Car Boot sale. So glad we did as it was a fantastic one, and lovely weather !
Bought quite a few things at really good prices too. Found this cool shabby chic plaster mirror someone had painted in a horrible red colour.

Half painted
That's better - 2 coats of Old White

Also bought a pretty little hand painted trinket box that was made at a local Pottery. I have it listed on eBay and it has quite a few watchers

also 2 nice old brass finger plates, now also listed on eBay

a shabby chic loo roll holder
a wooden duck with beautiful detail added in metal, and a shabby chic clock that I will use to dress my painted items
There are a few more items I bought but have not photographed yet, so will put them on soon.
On Sunday I managed to finish the big dresser I have been working on. It had horrible yellowed pine handles so I bought some reclaimed pewter ones from eBay and they look really good. I got it listed, prices it at £150 or best offer, so will let you know how it goes.
So as you can see I have been very busy, and have sold most of the items I have listed over the last couple of weeks.

I have also started a new Unique Chic facebook page where I will be listing all my before and after furniture pics, so have a look. There are quite a few Unique Chic pages, I am in Kidsgrove.

Picked up my Annie Sloan paint supplies from Scotland so will try out that new PURE colour soon
Have  a great week !

Bank Holiday Busyness !

You would think that the Bank Holiday weekend would be a time for chilling and recharging batteries, well not in the Crawford household !! I have had such a busy weekend!

Headed to Hanley on Saturday morning for a wander round the shops, can't remember the last time I went there shopping. Russell bought a few things in Forbidden Planet and I had a good look round TKMaxx. Had my new car valleted in the Potteries car park while we shopped too :-) Looking forward to driving it up to Scotland next weekend, and might even give Russell a shot!

Hanley Car Boot Sale
Sunday car boot sale in Hanley was a busy one. Managed to buy a nice pine bedside cabinet, a table with a drawer, and a painted wood/metal wall sconce with a mirror. The table and wall sconce are already listed for sale on eBay and the bedside cabinet has just be to waxed and I will put some new handles on it.

Tip - always start upside down
Thought the pine bedside table would look good in Paris Grey, and I think I might put little crystal knobs on the drawers ;-)  Just checked my email, and the candle sconce has sold, and has been paid for. That was a quick flip!

Won an eBay auction during the week for a small pine bathroom cabinet, bargain at 99p !
Painted in a new Annie Sloan colour - Old Ochre, and listed it on eBay today.

Also bought 3 pine chairs on eBay so went to pick them up on Sunday, I will probably paint them white, as that seems to be the most popular colour for chairs.

So, today, I have been mostly......painting! I did also make up some new necklaces that I listed on ETSY in my redkittencrafts online shop.

Placed another order for Annie Sloan paint this week, and ordered a new colour called PURE which I am looking forward to trying out. Will be driving up to Scotland after work this Friday, and driving back down on Saturday evening, so I will have Sunday free to get on with shabby chiccing!!

Forgot to tell you that I sold the Old Violet dresser for £63 and the Versailles dressing table for £83.  Also just this second sold a white bedside cabinet for £25.  Chaching!!

Have a good week!
